Conclusion

There are many good reasons to take advantage of the additional power afforded by VB6 in your Excel VBA applications. VB6 ActiveX DLLs provide code protection, the ability to use the more powerful VB6 forms in your Excel projects, excellent support for object-oriented programming, support for resource files and a number of miscellaneous features not available in VBA, including the Clipboard, Printer and Screen objects. VB6 EXE applications enable you to automate Excel, initiating your application from VB6 rather than Excel. This allows you to create components such as front loaders. These can scan the operating environment for you prior to start up to ensure that your application has the required resources available, allow you an extra level of VBA code protection by compiling your File > Open passwords in an EXE file, and let you start Excel and run your VBA application without triggering any VBA macro security features.
