In this chapter we examined the evolution of Microsoft Access. We traced its growth from a personal database program to a sophisticated tool used in web services. We also looked at some of the tools that make it so easy to use. Finally, we looked at where Access development will most likely be in the future.
Before we get started developing, however, we need to examine the development process. We will spend time in Chapter 2 doing just that. Then, in Chapters 3 and 4, we will examine non-programming techniques that you can use to develop Access applications. Then, beginning in Chapter 5, we turn our attention to VBA development.
