Summary

Do you need programming? It depends on what you are doing. In this chapter, we examined how to do a lot of things without the use of programming. We got a small taste of building a database application. We examined the database architecture and where VBA fits in with all the other components.

In addition, you got your first look at some simple VBA coding by building a simple macro and converting it to VBA code. While discussing that code, you learned about the role of events. You saw how naming conventions can assist in the consistency of your code.

Finally, we examined two additional time-saving tools—prebuilt templates and Switchboard Manager.

The next chapter covers how to customize Access’s toolbars and menus; again, all without programming.
